How Attar Mist began.
It started as a homeschooling project in the United States — six concentrated perfume oils, a small stall at a local event in Virginia, and a family that had fallen completely in love with Eastern fragrance.
The fragrances were unlike anything most customers had ever encountered. It was the wafting scent of bakhoor burning on the stall that first drew people in — by their noses, as our founder likes to say. Once someone smelled pure oud or musk attar for the first time, they never forgot it.
Over the years that followed, the stall became a business and the business became a passion shared across the whole family. When the opportunity came to bring Attar Mist to the UK, it felt like the natural next chapter.
Attar Mist UK was established in 2013 — the same family, the same values, the same obsession with authentic Eastern fragrance, now serving British customers. We have tabled at some of the UK's biggest community events including ExCeL London, Glasgow Mela and Trafalgar Square — sharing Eastern fragrance culture with crowds who, in many cases, were discovering pure attar for the very first time.
That moment — watching someone pause mid-conversation because a scent has genuinely stopped them — is what this business has always been about.
